Our Mission Matters

Who We Are

Wirral Community First Responders are local volunteers trained to deliver life-saving care alongside the North West Ambulance Service. We respond to 999 emergencies, provide vital early treatment, and offer free CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions to help keep our community safe.

Our Purpose

To provide immediate lifesaving care in the local community during medical emergencies, prior to the arrival of an ambulance crew.

To empower people across the Wirral and surrounding areas with the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency.

Our Initiatives

Community First Responders - Responding

Wirral Community First Responders are local volunteers trained to attend 999 emergencies in partnership with the North West Ambulance Service. Because we live in the community, we can often arrive within minutes to provide vital early care—such as CPR, defibrillation, and reassurance—until paramedics take over. Our quick response helps save lives and supports people in their moment of greatest need.

CPR & AED Workshops

Every second matters in a cardiac emergency. That’s why Wirral Community First Responders run free CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) workshops across the community.

Our sessions give people the skills and confidence to act quickly in an emergency—whether that’s performing CPR, using a defibrillator, or simply knowing what to do until professional help arrives.

We deliver workshops in schools, workplaces, and community groups across the Wirral, helping more people gain life-saving knowledge. The more of us who are prepared, the safer our community becomes.

Community Outreach

Wirral Community First Responders are proud to be part of the community we serve. Beyond attending emergencies, we deliver free CPR and defibrillator awareness sessions, visit schools, community groups, and local events to share life-saving skills, and raise awareness of our work. By engaging with people across the Wirral, we aim to build confidence, strengthen community resilience, and help more people be prepared in an emergency.

Fundraising Events

Wirral Community First Responders rely on local fundraising to keep our volunteers trained and equipped. From community fairs to charity challenges, our events raise vital funds and awareness. Every donation helps us save lives and deliver free CPR and defibrillator training across the Wirral.
